  • DOT Force Started!
    Shumpei Kumon, GLOCOM Executive Director, has been appointed as Japanese NPO representative to the G8 DOT (Digital Opportunity Task) Force. The DOT Force is a taskforce of G8 countries established to address the potential dangers of leaving developing nations behind in the growth of the new digital economy.   • Global Communications Platform (GLOCOM Platform)
    We are very pleased to announce that Reuters-Japan has begun linking to GLOCOM Platform from their "Reuters City Tokyo" website.

    GLOCOM Platform in January 2001 is focusing on the Japanese Government's deregulation policy and the challenges of deregulation for Japanese society. New position papers are: "The IT Revolution and Regulatory Reform", Yoshihiro SUZUKI (NEC), "Seeking Action of Regulatory Reform for the 21st Century", Norio OHGA (Vice Chairman of Keidanren), "Deregulation in Japan: Striving for Socio-Economic Transformation", Yoshihiko MIYAUCHI (ORIX Corporation).

    The mission of GLOCOM is to continue in our endeavor to provide information and knowledge which our sponsors and the public at large find useful. From the time of this institution's establishment, computer network was an area of great interest, not only in terms of its potential for research infrastructure but also as a means to pursue the possibilities of digital communication and the empowerment of the individual in the age of open and ``global media''.
